this past week has been a much-needed shift in what tasks i prioritize, with much of my focus going to clearing out a long list of individually small tasks that had been looming over me. most importantly of them, i've finally gotten to finding a decent de-esser that is compatible with the version of audacity i use (spitfish) and used that as a starting point for making small refinements to a lot of mixes. i also started experimenting with MAIM, though that won't appear quite as much this album.
i'm also gradually closing in on finishing up voice for the remaining songs, with about a song and a half worth of cleans left and some assorted harsh stuff. the remaining parts are difficult but i am doing my best.
not much to say about the following yet as i am still in fairly early stages and nothing is confirmed but: 1. i have made significant progress in sketching out ideas for a music video for the opening track of my album and 2. i have some possible small-scale collaborative work in early stages of the process.
this has been a good week for music releases as well; tuesday saw the release of the music video for TV-MA's Heat Death (one of the most interesting and compelling songs i've heard all year), Petriform released Familial Verses (super heavy chiptune with consistenly excellent melodies) on thursday, and friday was the release of Cania's Unrefined, an atmospheric-but-not-ambient record combining a range of synth textures with just enough drums and distinct melodies to keep focused without reducing any space.
