this page is an in-progress collection of various software and other tools that i like using for my music/games/other art. i will try to keep this up to date as i find more things.
Hydrogen drum machine is my personal favorite piece of software that i use for music creation, a flexible and (for me, at least) extremely intuitive way to sequence drums or, with enough preparation, any sort of instrument.
Kawai upright piano soundfont is the best piano patch i have found for anything that uses soundfonts. has an extremely expressive, deep sound that can be paired with nearly anything and doesn't really have any bad spots in terms of range.
GeneralUser GS is a decently large soundfont collection. the quality is somewhat inconsistent, but there are a number of patches that sound good as-is and a lot more that are usable with external processing.
MuseScore 2.3.2, from before MS got bloated and awkward to use. great for programming synths, sketching out ideas, or assembling scores.
MAIM is a beautiful VST plugin for emulating MP3 compression with a great deal of control and incredible potential as a distortion effect.
spitfish is a simple, effective de-esser that is compatible with the old version of audacity i use.
bitsy is a lovely tool for making small, simple html-based games with an interface that makes learning and experimentation easy. also can be found here. also has a lot of branches, forks, hacks, and variants though i am less familiar with those.
Twine is an easy way to make interactive text with a wide range of structures and a lot of customization range.
